WILLS
In the early 1970s the Supreme Court Registry deposited a large collection of wills and related papers into the Archives. Subsequent deposits have since been made from this institution. The wills are recorded in alphabetical order the earliest being 1703 and the latest 1968.
The Department of Archives has in its collection approximately 2,400 wills and related documents. Other depositors include the Methodist Church, the Out Island Commissioner's Offices, the Registrar General's Department which has will books and indexes from 1700 - 1944 and private individuals. All of the wills are on microfilm and repair continues on the original documents.
