MICROFILM
The microfilming Section established in February 1972
concentrates on the areas of
1. Preservation
2. Acquisition
3. Reference microfilming, and
4. Security filming
This approach has not only enabled the department to preserve fragile and heavily used original documents, but also to acquire copies from foreign repositories and to make these easily accessible to researchers.
The Department of Archives possesses a large collection of microfilmed documents and has in-house microfilming processing and duplication facilities.
The department possesses a large photographic collection relating to people, places of interest, historic buildings & sites, churches, societies and other events of historical interest.
A Digital ICAM camera, purchased with a dual head, is being used to facilitate the Department’s digital and microfilm programmes.
